Flexibility exercise
Scorpion Stretch
How to do it
- Lie face down on a mat with the arms extended out to the sides at shoulder height, palms down.
- Bend one knee and lift that foot off the mat, rotating the hip to reach the foot across the body toward the opposite hand.
- Let the pelvis and lower back rotate with the movement while keeping the chest and shoulders flat on the mat.
- Feel a stretch through the hip, lower back, and front of the thigh of the lifted leg while breathing evenly through the rotation.
- Hold the position for 20 to 30 seconds once the foot reaches its furthest comfortable point.
- Rotate the hip back to center, lower the foot to the mat, and repeat on the opposite side.
