Strength exercise

Narrow Grip Bench Press

How to do it

  1. Lie back on a flat bench and grip the barbell with hands set just inside shoulder width.
  2. Unrack the bar and hold it steady over your chest with your elbows tucked close to your torso.
  3. Lower the bar under control to your lower chest, keeping the elbows tracking close to your sides.
  4. Press the bar back up to full extension, driving through the chest and triceps.
  5. Exhale on the press up and inhale during the descent.
  6. Keep your wrists stacked directly over your elbows, since the narrower grip makes it easy to let the bar drift and bend the wrists back.
