Barbell Close Grip Bench Press

How to do it

  1. Lie on a flat bench and grip the barbell with the hands just inside shoulder width.
  2. Unrack the bar and hold it over the chest with the wrists stacked over the forearms.
  3. Lower the bar under control to the lower chest, keeping the elbows tucked close to the torso.
  4. Press the bar back up by driving through the triceps and forearms, extending the arms fully at the top.
  5. Keep the shoulder blades pulled together against the bench throughout the lift.
  6. Breathe in on the descent and exhale while pressing the bar back to lockout.
