Strength exercise
Incline Bench Press
How to do it
- Set the bench to a 30 to 45 degree incline and lie back with the eyes under the bar.
- Grip the bar just outside shoulder width and unrack it to arms length over the upper chest.
- Brace the core, retract the shoulder blades, and lower the bar under control to the collarbone area over about 2 seconds.
- Press the bar back up and slightly back toward the face, driving through the upper chest and shoulders to lockout.
- Inhale during the descent and exhale as the bar passes the hardest point of the press.
- Keep the elbows tracking under the wrists and avoid letting the bar drift toward the neck.
