Strength exercise
Incline Dumbbell Press
How to do it
- Set the bench to a 30 to 45 degree incline and lie back with a dumbbell in each hand resting at the sides of the chest.
- Plant the feet flat on the floor and brace the core to keep the lower back in light contact with the bench pad.
- Press the dumbbells up and slightly inward until the arms extend over the upper chest, without knocking the weights together.
- Squeeze the chest at the top and keep the shoulder blades pulled back and down into the bench.
- Lower the dumbbells over a 3 count until the elbows drop just below shoulder height, feeling a stretch across the upper chest.
- Keep the elbows tracking at roughly 45 degrees from the torso instead of flaring straight out to the sides.
