Strength exercise

Barbell Skull Crushers

How to do it

  1. Lie face up on a flat bench holding a barbell with a shoulder-width overhand grip, arms extended straight above the chest.
  2. Fix the upper arms vertically and keep the grip steady throughout.
  3. Brace the core to keep the ribs down and the lower back flat on the bench.
  4. Bend the elbows to lower the bar toward the forehead, feeling the load through the triceps as the forearms rotate down.
  5. Inhale during the lowering phase and exhale while extending the elbows back to the start.
  6. Avoid letting the elbows flare outward or the upper arms drift back toward the face.
