Strength exercise
Band Kickback
How to do it
- Anchor a resistance band at a low point and hold one end in the working hand, or loop the band under one foot with a handle in that hand.
- Hinge forward at the hips into a flat-back position, keeping a slight bend in the knees and the glutes engaged to hold the stance steady.
- Tuck the upper arm against your side with the elbow bent to about 90 degrees.
- Extend the elbow straight back against the band's resistance, driving through the triceps brachii until the arm is straight.
- Pause briefly at full extension, then bend the elbow to return to the start under control.
- Keep the hips hinged and the gluteus maximus braced throughout the set to keep the torso stable while the arm works.
