Strength exercise

Barbell Meadows Row

How to do it

  1. Set one end of a barbell into a landmine attachment or a corner and stand facing the loaded end, gripping close to the sleeve with one hand.
  2. Take a staggered stance with the same side leg back and hinge forward from the hips over the bar.
  3. Brace the core and let the arm hang extended toward the floor to start the rep.
  4. Pull the bar up and back toward the hip, driving the elbow high and squeezing the lat and biceps on the working side.
  5. Exhale as you row the bar up and inhale as you lower it back down under control.
  6. Keep the hips square and the torso from rotating toward the working arm; a common fault is twisting the torso to help finish the pull instead of driving with the lat.
