Assisted Pull-up Machine

How to do it

  1. Set the assistance weight on the machine stack to the counterbalance level you need, then kneel or place a foot on the padded platform.
  2. Grip the handles slightly wider than shoulder width, palms facing away from you, and hang with arms fully extended.
  3. Brace the core and pull your chest up toward the handles by driving the elbows down and back, engaging the lats first.
  4. Finish the pull with the biceps as your chin clears the handles, keeping the shoulders down away from the ears.
  5. Exhale on the pull up, then inhale as you lower back to a full hang with control.
  6. Keep the torso upright through the movement rather than leaning back, which lets the platform do work meant for the back.
