Strength exercise
Barbell Floor Press
How to do it
- Lie on the floor with knees bent and feet flat, positioning a loaded barbell over the chest.
- Grip the bar at shoulder width and lower it until the upper arms rest flat on the floor.
- Pause briefly on the floor to remove momentum before pressing back up.
- Press the bar upward by driving through the chest and triceps until the arms are fully extended.
- Keep the elbows at roughly a 45 degree angle from the torso rather than flared out to the sides.
- Exhale on the press and control the bar's descent back to the floor for each repetition.
