Strength exercise

Triceps Dip

How to do it

  1. Position the hands shoulder width apart on the edge of a bench or sturdy chair with the fingers pointing forward.
  2. Slide the hips forward off the edge with the legs extended or the knees bent depending on the difficulty desired.
  3. Bend the elbows and lower the body straight down, keeping the elbows tracking backward rather than flaring outward.
  4. Descend until the upper arms are roughly parallel to the floor before reversing the movement.
  5. Press through the palms, driving through the triceps and chest, to extend the elbows back to the starting position.
  6. Keep the shoulders pressed down away from the ears throughout to avoid shrugging into the movement.
