Strength exercise
Snatch Grip High Pull
How to do it
- Set up with a wide snatch grip on the bar, hips back and shins close to the bar in the starting position.
- Brace the core and keep the grip firm through the forearms and fingers as the pull begins from the floor.
- Extend the knees and hips together to bring the bar past the knees, then drive the hips forward explosively for the second pull.
- Shrug the shoulders hard and pull the elbows high and out to the sides, driving the bar upward toward chest height.
- Finish the pull tall on the toes with the bar reaching its highest point near the lower chest before it begins to descend.
- Lower the bar back to the floor under control and reset the stance; keep the elbows above the wrists throughout rather than letting the bar drift away from the body.
