Strength exercise

Atlas Stone Lift

How to do it

  1. Straddle the atlas stone with feet outside shoulder width and squat down to wrap both arms fully around it.
  2. Pull the stone back into your lap, tucking it against your torso and bracing the core hard.
  3. Drive through the heels and extend the hips and knees together to stand the stone up off the ground.
  4. Keep the chest up and the lower back flat as the glutes and quadriceps drive the lift.
  5. Lock out standing tall with the stone held against the torso, hips fully extended.
  6. Set the stone back down under control by reversing the hip hinge rather than dropping it.
