Strength exercise
Single Arm Dumbbell Press
How to do it
- Stand or sit with a dumbbell held at shoulder height in one hand, palm facing forward.
- Brace the core to keep the torso square and resist leaning to the loaded side.
- Press the dumbbell straight overhead to full extension, driving through the shoulder and triceps of the working arm.
- Lower the dumbbell back to shoulder height under control while the free hand stays relaxed at the side or on the hip.
- Exhale on the press and inhale on the descent, completing all reps on one side before switching arms.
- Keep the ribcage from flaring out to the opposite side; a common fault is letting the torso tilt away from the loaded arm.
