Strength exercise
Dumbbell Push Press
How to do it
- Stand with feet shoulder width apart, holding a dumbbell in each hand racked at shoulder height with palms facing forward.
- Brace your core and dip your knees slightly, keeping your torso upright.
- Drive through your legs and extend your hips to generate momentum, then press the dumbbells overhead until your arms lock out, working the shoulders and triceps brachii.
- Lower the dumbbells back to shoulder height under control, resetting your knee dip for the next rep.
- Exhale as you drive and press, inhale as you lower the dumbbells back down.
- Time the leg drive with the press rather than pressing with the arms alone, which limits the load you can move.
