Strength exercise
Dumbbell Shoulder Press
How to do it
- Sit on a bench with back support, holding a dumbbell in each hand at shoulder height with palms facing forward.
- Brace the core and set the shoulder blades down and back before starting the set.
- Press both dumbbells overhead at the same time, driving through the shoulders and triceps until the arms are straight.
- Rotate the wrists slightly inward as the dumbbells near the top for a natural lockout path.
- Lower the dumbbells back to shoulder height over two counts, keeping the elbows under the wrists.
- Keep the lower back flat against the bench rather than arching to finish the rep.
