Flexibility exercise

Side Delt Static Stretch

How to do it

  1. Stand tall with the feet hip-width apart and the shoulders relaxed down away from the ears.
  2. Raise one arm straight across the front of the body at chest height, keeping the elbow fully extended.
  3. Hook the opposite hand around the wrist or lower forearm of the raised arm and draw it further across the chest.
  4. Feel a stretch through the lateral deltoid of the raised arm while keeping the shoulder pressed down rather than hiking toward the ear, breathing evenly.
  5. Hold the position for 20 to 30 seconds without twisting the torso to add range.
  6. Release the arm slowly, lower it, and repeat on the opposite side.
