Strength exercise

Band Upright Row

How to do it

  1. Stand on the middle of a resistance band with your feet about shoulder width apart, holding one end in each hand in front of your thighs.
  2. Set your hands close together with your palms facing your body and your arms hanging straight down.
  3. Brace your core, then pull the band straight up the front of your body by leading with your elbows, driving the lift through your side deltoids and upper trapezius.
  4. Raise your hands to about chest height with your elbows above your wrists, feeling the side delts and upper traps squeeze at the top while the biceps help bend the elbows.
  5. Exhale as you pull up and inhale as you lower the band back to your thighs under control.
  6. Keep your elbows higher than your hands throughout, avoiding leading with the hands instead of the elbows.
