Strength exercise
Shoulder Press
How to do it
- Sit on an upright bench with feet flat on the floor, holding a dumbbell in each hand at shoulder height with palms facing forward.
- Brace the core and press the lower back flat against the bench pad before starting the press.
- Press both dumbbells straight overhead in a controlled path, driving through the shoulders and triceps.
- Bring the dumbbells close together near the top, finishing with the arms fully extended overhead.
- Lower the dumbbells back to shoulder height over two counts, inhaling on the way down.
- Keep the torso upright against the bench instead of leaning back to help the dumbbells overhead.
