Strength exercise

Sandbag Bent Over Row

How to do it

  1. Stand with feet shoulder-width apart and hinge at the hips to grip the sandbag handles with both hands, torso angled forward.
  2. Keep the knees softly bent and the spine long, with the sandbag hanging below the chest.
  3. Row the sandbag up toward the ribs by driving the elbows back, letting the shifting filler inside the bag challenge the lats and biceps.
  4. Keep the torso still and braced throughout, resisting the urge to jerk the sandbag upward with the lower back.
  5. Pause at the top with the shoulder blades drawn together, then lower the sandbag under control to full arm extension.
  6. Exhale on the row and inhale on the descent, keeping the hips locked in the same hinge position for every rep.
