Strength exercise

Push-up (Pike)

How to do it

  1. Start in a downward-dog-like position with the hips lifted high and the hands planted slightly wider than the shoulders.
  2. Walk the feet closer to the hands to increase the angle at the hips.
  3. Bend the elbows and lower the top of the head toward the floor between the hands.
  4. Press firmly through the palms to extend the arms and return to the raised hip position.
  5. Keep the elbows tracking backward at a moderate angle rather than flaring wide.
  6. Exhale on the press and maintain a steady tempo rather than dropping quickly into the bottom.
