Strength exercise

Push-up (Explosive)

How to do it

  1. Start in a standard push-up position with hands just outside shoulder width and body in a straight line.
  2. Brace the core and squeeze the glutes to prevent the hips from sagging.
  3. Lower the chest under control until it is a few inches from the floor.
  4. Drive forcefully through the chest and triceps so the hands leave the floor at the top of the rep.
  5. Land with bent elbows to cushion the impact before immediately resetting for the next rep.
  6. Exhale sharply on the explosive push and avoid rushing the controlled lowering phase.
