Strength exercise

Push-up (Decline)

How to do it

  1. Place both feet on an elevated bench or box and hands on the floor slightly wider than shoulder width.
  2. Set the body in a straight diagonal line from ankles to head with the core braced.
  3. Lower the chest toward the floor, letting the elbows travel at roughly a 45 degree angle.
  4. Press through the palms to extend the arms fully, feeling the emphasis shift toward the upper chest.
  5. Keep the hips level throughout the rep instead of letting them drop below the shoulder line.
  6. Breathe in on the way down and exhale on the press, avoiding a rushed lockout at the top.
