Strength exercise
Push-up (Clap)
How to do it
- Start in a standard push-up position with hands shoulder-width apart and body in a straight line from head to heels.
- Brace the core and glutes so the hips do not sag or pike during the movement.
- Lower the chest toward the floor under control, keeping the elbows at roughly a 45 degree angle to the torso.
- Drive explosively through the chest and triceps to push the hands off the floor and clap in mid-air.
- Land with soft, bent elbows and immediately absorb the impact before resetting the plank position.
- Inhale on the descent and exhale sharply on the explosive push, avoiding a hard elbow lockout on landing.
