Strength exercise

Push-up (Archer)

How to do it

  1. Start in a plank position with hands set much wider than shoulder width, well outside the shoulders.
  2. Turn the fingers slightly outward and keep the feet together or hip width apart.
  3. Brace the core and glutes to keep the body in a straight line throughout.
  4. Shift the weight toward one hand, bending that elbow to lower the chest toward it while the other arm stays straight and slides along the floor, working the chest and triceps of the bending arm through the shifted load.
  5. Inhale on the way down, exhale pressing back to center, alternating sides evenly.
  6. Avoid letting the hips rotate or dip toward the bending arm; keep the shoulders and hips square to the floor.
