Strength exercise

Pull-up (Typewriter)

How to do it

  1. Grip the bar wide, hands well outside shoulder width, and hang with arms fully extended.
  2. Pull your chin up level with the bar and hold that height, engaging the lats and biceps to stay elevated.
  3. Slide your chin sideways along the bar toward one hand, bending that arm while the opposite arm straightens.
  4. Reverse direction and slide across to the other hand, keeping your chin at bar height the entire time.
  5. Exhale as you slide toward each side, breathing steadily while holding the top position.
  6. Lower back to a full hang with control once you have slid to both sides, rather than dropping suddenly from the top.
