Strength exercise

Plyo Push-up (Box)

How to do it

  1. Set a low sturdy box or step in front of the hands and start in a plank position with hands on the floor just behind it.
  2. Place the hands slightly wider than shoulder width, ready to drive upward explosively.
  3. Brace the core and glutes to keep a straight body line through the movement.
  4. Lower the chest toward the floor, then press up explosively so the hands leave the ground and land on top of the box, working the chest and triceps through the powerful extension.
  5. Inhale on the descent, exhale forcefully during the explosive push onto the box.
  6. Avoid landing on the box with locked elbows; let the arms absorb the landing with a slight bend.
