Strength exercise
Plate Front Raise
How to do it
- Hold a weight plate with both hands at the sides, fingers gripping the rim at roughly shoulder-width.
- Stand with feet hip-width apart and brace the core before beginning the raise.
- Raise the plate straight out in front of the body up to shoulder height, keeping the arms extended.
- Keep the plate flat and level rather than tilting it as it rises.
- Lower the plate back down under control to the thighs over the same path.
- Exhale on the raise and inhale on the lowering phase, avoiding the common fault of leaning back to help swing the plate upward.
