Strength exercise

Neck Harness Front Flexion

How to do it

  1. Fit a head harness with a weight plate hanging from the front strap and sit on a bench with a tall, upright posture.
  2. Tip the head back slightly so the weight hangs behind the chin, taking up the strap tension.
  3. Tuck the chin forward and down toward the chest, letting the sternocleidomastoid draw the head into flexion against the hanging weight.
  4. Pause briefly at the bottom of the movement before reversing.
  5. Raise the head back to the tilted starting position under control, resisting the pull of the weight on the way up.
  6. Keep the shoulders still throughout so the harness moves the head rather than the torso rocking to assist.
