Strength exercise
Medicine Ball Overhead Throw
How to do it
- Stand with feet shoulder width apart holding a medicine ball with both hands in front of your hips.
- Brace your core and bend your knees slightly to load your legs before the throw.
- Drive up through your legs and raise the ball overhead, extending your arms fully behind your head.
- Throw the ball forward and down explosively, engaging the latissimus dorsi and biceps as your arms whip through the release.
- Exhale sharply on the release and follow through with your arms toward the target.
- Reset your stance and retrieve the ball before starting the next throw; avoid rounding your lower back as you load the overhead position.
