Strength exercise
L-Sit
How to do it
- Support the body on a pair of parallettes or sturdy blocks with arms straight, hands elevating the torso above the floor.
- Lift the legs out in front until they form an L shape with the torso, knees straight and toes pointed.
- Brace the core to keep the pelvis tucked slightly and prevent the lower back from arching.
- Keep the hip flexors engaged to hold the legs elevated at or above hip height throughout the hold.
- Breathe in short, controlled breaths since the braced core limits deep belly breathing.
- Avoid letting the shoulders creep up toward the ears, a common fault that reduces stability through the hold.
