Strength exercise

L-Sit

How to do it

  1. Support the body on a pair of parallettes or sturdy blocks with arms straight, hands elevating the torso above the floor.
  2. Lift the legs out in front until they form an L shape with the torso, knees straight and toes pointed.
  3. Brace the core to keep the pelvis tucked slightly and prevent the lower back from arching.
  4. Keep the hip flexors engaged to hold the legs elevated at or above hip height throughout the hold.
  5. Breathe in short, controlled breaths since the braced core limits deep belly breathing.
  6. Avoid letting the shoulders creep up toward the ears, a common fault that reduces stability through the hold.
