Strength exercise

Inverted Row

How to do it

  1. Position yourself underneath a sturdy bar set at hip height and grip it with hands just outside shoulder width.
  2. Walk your feet forward until your body forms a straight line from ankles to shoulders, heels on the floor.
  3. Brace your core and glutes to keep your hips from sagging as you begin the pull.
  4. Pull your chest up toward the bar, driving your elbows back and squeezing the latissimus dorsi and biceps.
  5. Exhale as you rise, pause briefly with your chest near the bar, then lower back down under control.
  6. Keep your body rigid from head to heels throughout; avoid letting your hips drop below the line of your shoulders.
