Strength exercise

Front Raise

How to do it

  1. Stand with feet shoulder width apart, holding a dumbbell in each hand in front of the thighs with a neutral or overhand grip.
  2. Keep a slight bend in the elbows and brace the core to keep the torso still.
  3. Raise both dumbbells straight out in front of the body to about shoulder height, driving through the front of the shoulders.
  4. Pause briefly at the top before lowering.
  5. Lower the dumbbells back to the thighs with control, inhaling on the way down and exhaling on the raise.
  6. Keep the movement strict and avoid swinging the torso or using the hips to launch the weight upward.
