Strength exercise
Band Chest Fly
How to do it
- Anchor a resistance band behind you at chest height and hold one handle in each hand, stepping forward to create tension.
- Stand in a staggered stance with a slight forward lean and arms extended out to your sides at chest height, elbows softly bent.
- Draw your hands together in front of your chest in a wide arcing path, squeezing the chest at the midpoint.
- Control the return by slowly opening your arms back out against the band until you feel a stretch across the chest.
- Keep a steady tempo throughout, exhaling as you bring your hands together and inhaling as you open back up.
- Keep a slight bend in the elbows the whole time rather than locking them out, which shifts load into the triceps brachii and shoulders.
