Strength exercise

Front Lever

How to do it

  1. Hang from an overhead bar with a shoulder width overhand grip and arms fully extended.
  2. Pull the shoulder blades down and back, engaging the latissimus dorsi to keep the shoulders locked away from your ears.
  3. Brace the core hard and draw the legs up, raising the hips until the body is horizontal beneath the bar.
  4. Keep the entire body in one straight rigid line from shoulders to toes, with the arms staying fully extended throughout.
  5. Breathe in a controlled, shallow rhythm rather than holding your breath while maintaining the horizontal position.
  6. Bend the hips and lower the legs back down with control between attempts rather than letting the body drop suddenly.
