Eccentric-Accentuated Cable Lateral Raise

How to do it

  1. Stand sideways to a cable machine with the pulley at the lowest position.
  2. Grab the handle with the far hand.
  3. Raise your arm out to the side with a normal tempo.
  4. Slowly lower the weight over 3-5 seconds on the eccentric phase.
  5. Focus on controlling the descent to maximize time under tension.
  6. The slow negative targets the lateral deltoid more effectively.
