Dumbbell Triceps Kickback

How to do it

  1. Place one knee and hand on a bench for support, holding a dumbbell in the free hand with the upper arm pinned against your side.
  2. Brace the core and keep the back flat and parallel to the floor throughout the movement.
  3. Extend the elbow back until the arm is straight, driving the motion entirely through the triceps while the upper arm stays still.
  4. Pause briefly at full extension before bending the elbow to lower the dumbbell back to the starting position.
  5. Exhale as you extend the arm back and inhale as you bend the elbow to return.
  6. A common fault is swinging the upper arm to add momentum, keep it fixed against the side for the entire set.
