Strength exercise
Dumbbell Triceps Kickback
How to do it
- Place one knee and hand on a bench for support, holding a dumbbell in the free hand with the upper arm pinned against your side.
- Brace the core and keep the back flat and parallel to the floor throughout the movement.
- Extend the elbow back until the arm is straight, driving the motion entirely through the triceps while the upper arm stays still.
- Pause briefly at full extension before bending the elbow to lower the dumbbell back to the starting position.
- Exhale as you extend the arm back and inhale as you bend the elbow to return.
- A common fault is swinging the upper arm to add momentum, keep it fixed against the side for the entire set.
Muscles worked
