Strength exercise
Dumbbell Tate Press
How to do it
- Lie back on a flat bench holding a dumbbell in each hand extended above your chest, palms facing your feet.
- Flare your elbows out to the sides at roughly 90 degrees from your torso.
- Lower the dumbbells by bending your elbows outward until the heads of the dumbbells nearly touch your chest, isolating the triceps brachii.
- Rotate and press the dumbbells back up together to full extension, keeping the elbows flared throughout.
- Inhale as you lower and exhale as you press back up.
- Keep the descent slow, since dropping the dumbbells quickly toward the chest reduces control at the bottom of the movement.
