Strength exercise

Dumbbell Single Arm Triceps Extension

How to do it

  1. Stand or sit holding a single dumbbell in one hand, pressing it overhead with the palm facing inward to start.
  2. Use the free hand to lightly support the working elbow, keeping the upper arm close to the ear.
  3. Bend the elbow to lower the dumbbell behind the head, then extend it to press back to the top, isolating the triceps brachii on that arm.
  4. Brace the core and keep the torso still so only the elbow moves through the set.
  5. Inhale as the dumbbell lowers, exhale as you press it back up.
  6. Common fault: avoid letting the elbow drift outward or the torso lean to the opposite side.
