Strength exercise
Dumbbell Single Arm Press
How to do it
- Stand or sit with a dumbbell racked at one shoulder, palm facing forward, and your free hand resting on your hip or a support.
- Brace your core to resist leaning or twisting toward the working side.
- Press the dumbbell straight overhead until your arm locks out, working the shoulders and triceps brachii.
- Lower the dumbbell back to shoulder height with control, keeping your torso upright throughout.
- Exhale on the press up and inhale on the way down.
- Avoid leaning away from the dumbbell to gain momentum, which turns the press into a side bend.
