Strength exercise
Dumbbell Overhead Triceps Extension
How to do it
- Stand or sit with feet shoulder-width apart, holding one dumbbell with both hands and pressing it overhead to start.
- Keep the upper arms close to the ears as you bend the elbows to lower the dumbbell behind the head.
- Extend the elbows to press the dumbbell back overhead, working the triceps through the full range.
- Brace the core to keep the ribs down and avoid arching the lower back as the weight lowers.
- Inhale as the dumbbell lowers, exhale as you press it back up.
- Common fault: avoid letting the elbows flare wide or the head push forward to compensate.
