Strength exercise
Dumbbell Lying Triceps Extension
How to do it
- Lie on a flat bench holding a dumbbell in each hand, arms extended straight above the chest with palms facing each other.
- Keep the upper arms stationary and vertical as you bend the elbows to lower the dumbbells toward the sides of the head.
- Extend the elbows to press the dumbbells back up, working the triceps brachii through a full range of motion.
- Keep the feet flat on the floor and the core braced so the lower back stays flat on the bench.
- Inhale as the dumbbells lower, exhale as you press them back to the top.
- Common fault: avoid letting the elbows flare outward or the upper arms drift back toward the face.
