Strength exercise
Dumbbell Decline Bench Press
How to do it
- Lie back on a decline bench with your feet secured under the footpads and a dumbbell held in each hand at chest level.
- Set a pronated grip with the dumbbells stacked over your lower chest, forearms angled slightly inward.
- Brace your core and keep your shoulder blades pulled back against the bench before initiating the press.
- Press the dumbbells up and together in a slight arc until your arms are extended over your lower chest, driving through the chest and triceps brachii.
- Inhale as you lower the dumbbells back to the sides of your chest, then exhale forcefully on the press up.
- Keep the elbows at roughly 45 degrees from your torso rather than flaring them out to 90 degrees, which pulls tension away from the chest.
