Strength exercise
Chin-up (Archer)
How to do it
- Grip the pull-up bar with palms facing you, hands set wider than shoulder width.
- Hang with arms fully extended and shoulders engaged before initiating the pull.
- Brace your core to keep your body from swinging as you begin the pull.
- Pull your body up while shifting your weight toward one hand, bending that elbow fully while the other arm stays extended out to the side, driving the movement through the lat and biceps of the working arm.
- Exhale as you pull up toward the working side and inhale as you lower back to a dead hang.
- Avoid letting the straight arm bend to assist the pull; keep it extended so the working side does the work, then alternate sides between reps.
