Strength exercise
Cable Overhead Extension (Single Arm)
How to do it
- Face away from a low pulley, gripping the handle in one hand and stepping forward until that arm is extended overhead.
- Brace the core and keep the hips square as the elbow bends to lower the handle behind the head.
- Extend the elbow to press the handle back overhead, isolating the triceps brachii on the working arm.
- Keep the upper arm close to the ear and stationary throughout, using the free hand to steady the upper arm if needed.
- Inhale as the handle lowers, exhale as you press it back up.
- Common fault: avoid letting the torso twist toward the working arm to assist the extension.
