Strength exercise

Cable Crossover

How to do it

  1. Set both pulleys on a cable machine to shoulder height or slightly above and grip a handle in each hand.
  2. Step forward into a split stance between the towers, brace the core, and keep a slight bend in both elbows.
  3. Pull the handles down and together in a wide arc in front of the chest, letting the chest do the pressing while the braced core keeps the torso from twisting.
  4. Squeeze the hands together at the bottom of the arc for a brief pause.
  5. Return the handles back out to the sides slowly, feeling a stretch across the chest without letting the shoulders roll forward.
  6. Exhale as the hands cross and keep the ribcage from flaring to keep the core doing its stabilizing work.
