Strength exercise

Barbell Reverse Grip Row

How to do it

  1. Stand over a loaded barbell with feet shoulder width apart and grip the bar underhand, hands just inside shoulder width.
  2. Hinge at the hips to about 45 degrees, letting the bar hang at arm's length with a flat back.
  3. Brace your core and keep your knees softly bent to support the bent over position throughout the set.
  4. Pull the bar toward your waist, leading with the elbows close to your sides and squeezing the latissimus dorsi, biceps, and forearm flexors.
  5. Exhale on the pull, pause briefly at the top, then lower the bar under control without letting your back round.
  6. Keep the underhand grip supinated throughout; avoid rotating your wrists as fatigue sets in.
