Strength exercise

Lat Pulldown Machine (Wide Grip)

How to do it

  1. Sit at the machine with the thighs secured under the pad and take a wide overhand grip on the bar, hands well outside shoulder width.
  2. Lean back slightly from the hips and set the chest up tall.
  3. Pull the bar down toward the upper chest, driving the elbows out and down in a wide arc.
  4. Squeeze the lats hard at the bottom, keeping the wrists straight under the bar.
  5. Extend the arms back up under control to a full overhead stretch.
  6. Keep the shoulders down away from the ears and avoid jerking the bar down with the torso.
