Strength exercise
Barbell Hack Squat
How to do it
- Stand with the barbell on the floor behind your heels and grip it with both hands behind your body, palms facing back.
- Set your feet about hip width apart and brace your core before lifting the bar off the floor.
- Bend your knees and push your hips back to squat down, keeping the bar close to your calves as it travels behind you.
- Lower until your thighs are near parallel, feeling the work concentrated through your quadriceps and glutes.
- Drive through your heels to stand back up, exhaling as you extend your hips and knees to lockout.
- Avoid letting the bar drift away from your legs, which shifts stress off the target muscles and rounds your lower back.
