Strength exercise
Barbell Glute Bridge
How to do it
- Lie on the back on the floor with a loaded barbell rolled over the hips, knees bent and feet flat about hip-width apart.
- Grip the bar with both hands just outside the hips to keep it steady.
- Brace the core before initiating the lift so the ribs stay down.
- Drive through the heels and extend the hips upward, squeezing the gluteus maximus until the torso and thighs form a straight line from the shoulders to the knees.
- Exhale on the drive up and inhale as the hips lower back down with control.
- Avoid letting the bar roll off center or the knees cave inward during the drive.
